In immediate danger? Call 911 Report abuse & find support

Intervention · Inbound Cases

In some very specific situations, we work cases outside of our undercover operations.

While the majority of SOSA’s cases are encountered during undercover operations, we occasionally support law enforcement agencies with one-off situations.

Typically these are complex or urgent situations that law enforcement requests our support with as they investigate.

How a case reaches us

Cases reach us two ways.

01

Referred by an agency

In some situations, law enforcement asks us to support their work because the case includes complex details. Other times, the perpetrator is highly sophisticated, so one of our realistic decoys can be helpful.

02

Reported by a family

Sometimes, family members approach us for help with how to handle their child’s recent online harm. We will point them in the right direction or collaborate with their local law enforcement department to help the investigative process.

Scope

What we can help with

If you are a civilian, you are welcome to reach out if your case meets the following parameters:

  • Incident(s) occurred within the last 3 years.
  • You have evidence regarding the illegal act(s).
  • You have not consulted with local law enforcement, or the law enforcement assigned to the case is willing to work with us.
  • The case involves a child under the age of 18.

Before you write to us

What we cannot take on

If you are an ICAC investigator, feel free to reach out with any potential cases.

If you are a civilian, we are unfortunately unable to help with cases from many years ago, cases in which you have suspicions but no evidence of a crime, or cases that law enforcement is actively working without wanting our support.

Tell us about a case

Feel free to reach out if you think SOSA may be able to help. Please do not share any evidence or graphic details in your preliminary email.

Do not send CSAM — even as evidence.
