SOSA is committed to advocating for better and broader safety legislation, and
to aiding child abuse prevention initiatives.
The casework behind that advocacy is the same casework behind our operations and
our trainings — cases run with ICAC task forces, built to the standard required
for prosecution.
At a state Capitol, meeting the Attorney General's office, the Department of Law
Enforcement, the Sheriff's Association, prosecutors, and legislators.
What we bring to the conversation
01
Every position comes from casework
Our advocacy is informed by real cases. Every operation SOSA runs is conducted in direct partnership with an ICAC task force, built to the standard required by the prosecutors who will try the case. How we advise lawmakers and platforms is derived directly from case evidence.
02
We are in the room with law enforcement
Our founder is a law enforcement consultant and subject matter expert who is present for every operation, testifies in court under direct and cross examination, and presents at ICAC conferences and departments across the country.
03
We work directly with the platforms
Grooming tactics evolve faster than most detection systems keep up with. We train Trust & Safety teams using real cases, identifying where grooming starts and pointing to signals more subtle than what those systems have been trained to catch.
What we are advocating for
Passed
Connecticut
SOSA helped pass a law criminalizing the online grooming of a minor. Child
safety transcends party lines: the bill had bipartisan support and passed with
zero “no” votes.
In progress
Other states
Working with legislators on bills that protect kids and resource ICAC teams,
and on making SOSA's training available to the departments that investigate
these cases.
More effective legislation provides legal protections to every single kid in a
state — something identifying perpetrators one by one cannot do.
